Turnaround & Shutdown

A turnaround or shutdown involves multiple services running in sequence, often under compressed timelines with safety requirements that don't flex. When those services are implemented by different contractors, coordination gaps create delays, accountability gaps create risk, and cost overruns follow.

Diamond Valley brings project management, industrial cleaning, tank and vessel cleaning, dry ice blasting, and foam cooler washing together under one team. Our project managers plan, schedule, and execute each phase of your turnaround; we coordinate vendors, enforce quality control, and manage the handoff back to your operations team.

Page Summary
  • Diamond Valley manages turnaround programs from planning through hand-off under one contractor.
  • Services include industrial cleaning, tank and vessel cleaning, dry ice blasting, and foam cooler washing.
  • Dry ice blasting leaves no secondary waste and leaves surfaces ready for immediate recoating after cleaning.

Structured Management
Across Every Phase

Turnaround execution depends on planning that accounts for every task before the shutdown begins. Diamond Valley's project management approach covers four phases:

Planning

  • Detailed scheduling to minimize downtime while maintaining safety and quality standards
  • Budget development and cost control processes
  • Execution plans covering all phases from initial shutdown to final testing and restart

Preparation

  • Full pre-execution preparation and staging so mobilization day runs without delays
  • Management oversight across all preparation activities to ensure readiness before the shutdown window opens

Execution

  • Vendor coordination and management of all teams aligned to the program schedule
  • Strict quality control applied across every service delivered on-site
  • Safety protocol oversight and enforcement throughout the active shutdown period

Hand-Off

  • Complete reporting and documentation at program close
  • Smooth transition back to your operations team with all work verified and signed off
  • Post-project support available for any follow-up questions or requirements

Full-Scope Cleaning and
Maintenance Services

Industrial Cleaning

Thorough decontamination and cleaning of tanks, vessels, and piping systems. We remove residue, scale, and contaminants to prepare your equipment for inspection, maintenance, and return to service.

High-Pressure Water Blasting

Heavy-duty scale, grime, and blockage removal from equipment surfaces and piping to restore functionality and prepare surfaces for inspection or recoating.

Chemical Cleaning

Deep contaminant removal through targeted chemical treatments, eliminating deposits that affect efficiency and equipment integrity.

Vapour Phasing & Degassing

Safe removal of vapours and gases from tanks and vessels prior to entry or maintenance, all executed to regulatory and safety standards.

Exchanger Cleaning

Heat exchanger cleaning to restore thermal efficiency, reduce energy waste, and extend equipment service life.

Tank Cleaning

We execute complete tank cleaning programs for production tanks, storage vessels, and process tanks. Remove sludge, hydrocarbon deposits, and scale buildup that accumulate during normal operation with DVPS. Tank cleaning is executed with operator safety as the primary consideration, using automated solutions to minimize or eliminate confined space entry requirements wherever possible.

Vessel Cleaning

Thorough cleaning and decontamination of pressure vessels, separators, and process vessels in preparation for inspection, maintenance, and recertification. Diamond Valley's vessel cleaning crews work within the safety protocols required for active production facilities with site-specific safety plans and hazard assessments on every program.

Dry Ice Blasting

Dry ice blasting is a faster, cleaner alternative to pressure washing, chemical cleaning, and hand scrubbing; there’s no secondary waste, no moisture introduced to equipment, and no additional prep required before recoating.

How It works

Compressed air propels solid CO₂ pellets at high speed. On contact, three things happen simultaneously: impact force breaks the contaminant's bond with the surface, extreme cold (-78.5°C) causes it to crack and separate, and the pellets sublimate, turning directly from solid to gas and lifting debris cleanly away.

Key Advantages Over Traditional Methods

Oilfield Applications

Dry ice blasting works on the equipment your operation depends on: fin-fan coolers, structural steel, piping, valves, cable trays, electrical components, production equipment, and facility infrastructure.

Foam Cooler Washing

As a part of our turnaround and shutdown services, we offer specialized cleaning for foam coolers and fin-fan heat exchangers. We remove hydrocarbon deposits, dust, scale, and biological fouling that accumulate on cooling surfaces and reduce thermal efficiency. Clean coolers run at design capacity, reduce energy consumption, and extend service intervals between major maintenance events.

Foam cooler washing is executed as part of turnaround and shutdown programs or as standalone scheduled maintenance, with equipment cleaned in place wherever possible to minimize program time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Diamond Valley provides full-scope turnaround and shutdown services, including project management, industrial cleaning, tank cleaning, vessel cleaning, dry ice blasting, and foam cooler washing. Every phase is coordinated under one contractor from planning through final hand-off.

Diamond Valley's project management covers all four phases of a turnaround program: planning (scheduling, budgeting, execution plans), preparation (staging and pre-execution management), execution (vendor coordination, quality control, safety oversight), and hand-off (reporting, documentation, and post-project support).

Dry ice blasting uses compressed air to propel solid CO₂ pellets at contaminated surfaces. On impact, the pellets sublimate, turning directly from solid to gas, lifting contaminants cleanly away without introducing moisture, secondary waste, or abrasion. For oilfield equipment, this means surfaces are ready for immediate recoating, no disassembly is required for most applications, and no hazardous chemical waste is generated.

Foam cooler washing is specialized cleaning for foam coolers and fin-fan heat exchangers, removing hydrocarbon deposits, dust, scale, and biological fouling that accumulate on cooling surfaces and reduce thermal efficiency. Clean coolers operate at design capacity, reduce energy consumption, and extend service intervals between major maintenance events.

Our team implements automated cleaning solutions wherever operationally possible to minimize or eliminate confined space entry requirements during tank and vessel cleaning programs, reducing risk to personnel while maintaining thorough cleaning results.
